Watering Can

In areas where there is no access to water for hose pipes or they are banned for some reason, a watering can is useful. It is almost essential in a greenhouse. The traditional ones are galvanised steel but plastic seems to be taking over for popularity. It is best to buy one with a long spout and a fine rose. The ones made by Haws tend to be preferred by professionals.

Water Butt

In areas of low rainfall or areas with no access to water, a water butt is essential, in fact, acid loving plants and carnivorous plant can only be watered with rainwater.

Almost anything can be utilised from an empty 50 gallon oil drum to a commercially made one, it depends on the siting and what you are prepared to look at out of your window.

Hose

Having a hosepipe is probably more of where you live than if you need one or not. A hose is always a handy thing to have but some areas ban them altogether whilst other areas they have to be licensed and other areas have no restrictions at all.

Sprinkler

Sprinklers come in many shapes and forms, from a small rotary type that covers a few square feet up to the automated, built- in, pop-up types. Using one really depends on the above - if whether you are permitted to use a hose or not. They are not much use if you cannot connect them to a water supply.
