Make a Bird Scarer

Have you planted seeds or small plants?

Do the Birds keep trying to eat them?

This Bird Scarer will make noises and frighten the birds away so that they do not damage your plants.

What you will need:

2 Bamboo garden canes about 1 metre (3 ft) long

Some string

Some aluminium foil pie dishes (about 12)

Small piece of Plasticene

Pencil & Scissors

How to Make it:

Carefully make a small hole in the edge of the dish. The best way of doing this is to put a lump of plasticene on the table, put the edge of the dish on the plasticene and poke through the dish with the point of a pencil.

Cut a piece of string about 15 cm (6 inches) long and thread the string through the hole and then tie a knot in the string. Do the same to each tray until they are all done.

Place a garden cane into the ground at each end of your row of plants and tie a piece of string between the canes.

Tie the dishes in pairs to the stretched out string, spacing them between the canes.

When the breeze blows the dishes will rattle together and make enough noise to scare away the birds.
