Purslane

(Portulaca oleracea)

  This is a sprawling annual plant that grows to 6" (15cm) with rosettes of fleshy leaves and yellow flowers. It requires a well-drained soil in a sunny position. Sow seeds in late spring when danger of frost is past. Harvesting Pick leaves as required for use either fresh or for drying. Uses Young leaves are used in salads. Older leaves are cooked like spinach.
