Garlic

(Allium sativum)

 

A member of the onion family that grows to 1ft (30cm).Grow in well manured ground in a sunny, well drained position. Plant individual cloves in the autumn to overwinter. They can be planted in the spring but the autumn sown ones will give stronger healthier bulbs. Lift the plants and dry the bulbs in late summer or autumn. A few cloves can be replanted for continued supplies the following year. Uses Used in many recipes.
