Make an Earwig Trap

If you have problems with Earwigs nibbling your plant's leaves, this can help solve your problem.

Earwigs are basically nocturnal, and, as they like somewhere to hide during the day, can be difficult to find. If you provide them with a hiding place, you will know where to find them - and so you can dispose of them.

For this you will need a number of canes and 4" plantpots and some straw.

Lightly fill each plantpot with some straw and place it upside down onto the cane. Position the canes around the garden - preferably near to where the damage is occurring.

Each day remove the plantpot; shake out the straw and earwigs and dispose of the earwigs (I will leave the disposal up to your imagination!)

If you wish, the straw can be reused or fresh straw can be used. Replace the plantpots ready to catch the next batch.

Do not forget to empty the Earwigs each day or they will think they are on holiday and eat even more of your plants each night.
