and mulch Dahlias with lawn clippings or compost to preserve moisture.

Biennial seedlings planted earlier to a nursery bed.

out Dahlias if needed.

to remove faded flowers from Roses and keep an eye out for Mildew

all green stems from variegated shrubs.

In
dry weather spray the foliage of gladioli to prevent damage from thrips.

Keep
rhododendrons well watered to prevent the flowers tips from drying
out and causing damage to next years flowers.

Now
is the time to take softwood cuttings of Forsythia, Flowering Currant,
Wiegela and other shrubs. Pull the shoots off with a heel, trim up
and insert the cuttings in a sandy soil in a cold frame.
